The table below shows the current makeup of the modem pool. When calling the modem pool, please follow the instructions below. A very complete technical description of the modem pool is provided in The High-Speed Modem-Pool Explained. If you are using SLIP/PPP service make sure you read or download the Dial-Up Network Service documentation.Usage reports are available. Use these reports to plan around the times that the modem pool is in heavy use.

- Use
854-9924if you have a V.32bis or lower modem. If all lines are busy, this pool hunts to the V.34 pool.- Use
853-9903if you have a V.34 modem. If all lines are busy, you'll get a busy signal. Dial this number only if you have a V.34 modem.- Use
854-2477to access the express modem pool. If all lines are busy, you'll get a busy signal. Note that NO WARNING is given at the 25 minute timeout.- When dialing the low-speed Vadics, use 2400 bps and disable all error correction and compression features of your modem.
- When dialing the USRs, enable hardware flow control, V.42 or MNP4 error correction, and V.42bis or MNP5 compression if your modem has them.
